Mindfulness in Counseling: For Clinicians in Training
Mindfulness in Counseling: For Clinicians in Training
Mindfulness in Counseling is a collection of skills, techniques, and exercises designed to help counselors-in-training better address common barriers in the counseling relationship. This pack includes 15 separate exercises intended to accompany a course that focuses on the education and practice of counseling skills (i.e., Models and Techniques of Counseling, Practicum, Models of Psychotherapy). The recordings aim to help counselors mindfully practice sitting, not only with clients, but with themselves. Creating a counseling relationship requires an understanding and use of counseling skills, yet can still be challenging as each relationship is unique and new. These exercises help counselors learn and practice mindfulness techniques by utilizing weekly exercises, that coordinate developmentally with counseling milestones. As counselors, we are always learning. These recordings remind us to slow down in that learning to form more mindful counseling relationships.
